Oracle Primavera Cloud is a modular application for different areas of project- and portfolio management. The individual features are contained in different apps that enable a differentiated licensing and user authorization. The training concept is structured along these apps to provide exactly the required know-how to each user.
The trainings can be held online as well as at the customer site or at the proadvise training facility in Erlangen.
The training concept is structured in modules. In the following, the scope of each module is defined. As some topics span over different apps (e. g. Earned Value is processed within Scope, Cost and Fundsand Schedule), recommended combinations between modules are given. Based on this concept, trainings can be tailored to customer specific needs.
In below table all available training modules are listed, grouped by focus area. Note that certain modulesspan more than one focus area.

In this module trainees learn how to create and manage their project schedule in OPC. OPC offers a comprehensive scheduling function based on the Critical Path Method. Scheduling best practices are explained along the features of the tool. Trainees learn how to setup the Work Breakdown Structure, create and link activities, calculate the critical path and format the Gantt-Chart. Furthermore, the concepts of lag and float as well as different calculation options are explained. Finally, also methods of progress tracking and analysis are presented.
This module is planned for a duration of 8h.
Useful combinations are the Resources, Scope, Risk, Lean, Reports, Dashboards, Files, Cost and Funds, Mobile App Progress and Mobile App Project modules.
In this module trainees learn how to operate the concept of Lean Scheduling. The Lean app is based on the LastPlannerTM method. It comprises a Kanban-style task management with an open collaboration with external stakeholders. Tasks can be handled on a graphical surface, updating status or giving additional information to each task. A comprehensive user authorization concept ensures that each user can exactly see and handle the tasks and related information that he is supposed to. Through a dedicated workflow, hand-offs between tasks can be organized. During execution of the project or initiative, the status of each task is transparently tracked and reasons for non-compliance with planned progress are documented.
This module is planned for a duration of 4h.
Useful combinations are the Schedule, Dashboards, Project Team, Mobile App Project and Mobile App Progress modules.
In this module trainees learn how to manage project risks in OPC. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are supported and will be explained in this module. Various parameters and attributes can be used to categorise, evaluate and prioritise risks. Based on this, powerful calculations can be executed.
This module is planned for a duration of 8h.
Useful combinations are the Schedule and Reports modules.
In this module trainees learn how to work with scope in OPC. Scope is a powerful concept for planning the volume of different work packages in a project. Based on quantities of certain scope items, values of installation stages, modules or components can be evaluated. Tracking the progress based on scope items can be a very realistic foundation for an Earned Value Analysis. Also, cost and cash flow can be planned based on scope items.
This module is planned for a duration of 4h.
Useful combinations are the Schedule, Cost and Funds, Reports, Files and Dashboards modules.
In this module trainees learn how to set up and manage their capacity and workload planning. In OPC, there are two ways of planning capacity and workload. Roles are effectively generic resources, that can be used to do a first estimation of efforts e. g. in the bid-phase of a project, where it is not necessarily decided already which exact resource is going to take over which workload. The efforts planned on roles then acts as a forecast of upcoming resource needs and can be used by resource managers as a benchmark for their resource development activities. Once a specific resource has been selected, the efforts previously planned on the role can be shifted to one or more resources. Eligible resources can be filtered by different attributes to ensure an efficient use of all available resources and an efficient staffing of all ongoing or upcoming projects.
This module is planned for a duration of 4 h.
Useful combinations are the Schedule, Portfolio Analysis, Cost and Funds, Reports, Dashboards and Mobile App Progress modules.
In this module trainees learn how to manage cost and funds. The cost sheet is explained with all its features. Cost can be derived from different sources. Based on scope items or role assignments budgets can be calculated.
The cost sheet is structured in the CBS (Cost Breakdown Structure). Trainees learn how to set up a tailored project specific structure. For progress tracking and Earned Value calculations, baselines can be used. Budget changes can conveniently be managed in this app.
Furthermore, trainees learn how to manage funding sources to cover project expenses. In combination with workflows, budget approvals and change processes can be facilitated. The cost and fund app also delivers input for portfolio planning and evaluation purposes.
This module is planned for a duration of 8h.
Useful combinations are the Scope, Resource and Portfolio Analysis modules.
In this module trainees learn how to work with files in OPC. Files can be stored and linked to projects or activities. OPC allows collaboration on files between team members or stakeholders that comment on or give status updates to files. The whole process is explained in this module.
This module is planned for a duration of 2h.
Useful combinations are the Schedule, Risk, Scope, Mobile App Project, Mobile App Project and Mobile App Progress modules.
In this module trainees learn how to manage their portfolio. OPC offers powerful functionality to plan, evaluate and execute project portfolios along global strategies. A multitude of attributes and parameters allow the user to filter and prioritize projects. Scenarios can be created to compare portfolios performance and forecast.
This module is planned for a duration of 8h.
Useful combinations are the Cost and Funds, Resources, Strategic Alignment, Files, Dashboards and Mobile App Portfolio modules.
In this module trainees learn how to work with strategies. In OPC, strategies can be defined on an enterprise level. For each strategy, goals and criteria can be defined for the evaluation of projects or proposals. Both the setup of the strategies and the process of using strategies in daily business are explained.
This module is planned for a duration of 4h.
Useful combinations are the Portfolio Analysis and Workflow and Forms modules.
In this module trainees learn how to create reports in OPC. Both the content and the graphical representation of project and portfolio data can be presented in a large variety of ways. This module guides the participant through all necessary steps to setup a meaningful report, starting with the selection of meaningful data, filtering, grouping and sorting the data for the report, and finally creating a convenient chart or table.
This module is planned for a duration of 8h.
Useful combinations are the Schedule, Lean, Resources, Scope, Risk, Cost and Funds and Portfolio Analysis modules.
In this module trainees learn how to create dashboards. Dashboards in OPC are a useful feature for both project and portfolio managers to get a quick status overview of their projects and portfolios. Dashboards can include graphical representations as well as table views and header information.
This module is planned for a duration of 2h.
Useful combinations are the Schedule, Lean, Resources, Scope, Risk, Cost and Funds, Portfolio Analysis and Reports modules.
In this module trainees learn how to monitor their project when being onsite. In the Project App, the project manager can get a comprehensive overview of his work plan, and the status and progress of all activities and tasks in the schedule. This includes access to related files and discussions within the project team. When no internet connectivity is available, it is also possible to make updates offline and synchronize them with the cloud as soon as the mobile device is online again.
This module is planned for a duration of 1h.
